CRISS CROSS KISSES digital PDF download pattern, Robin Pickens, Lap or Queen
Xs and outlined Xs line up to make a lovely play of angles. This quilt pattern for CRISS CROSS KISSES is a pdf downloadable pattern by Robin Pickens, shown using Tulip Tango fabrics for Moda Fabrics (which ship to shops spring 2022), but can be made with your choice of fabrics. The pieces cut off in making the blocks are used for the arrow heads that show up in the sashings and in parts of the bigger blocks. Extra arrow heads emphasize the movement and direction into the borders. The structure of the Xs can also be a fun place to try splitting color families or light/dark to emphasize a square within the larger quilt body.
The pattern includes instructions for two sizes, a Lap/Wall of 63 1/2 x 63 1/2" or Queen of 96 1/2 x 96 1/2" (Lap size shown on wall on front cover). The photos show the quilt on a bed and this bed is actually a standard king, so quilt should be suitable for that size as well. The quilt uses Fat Eighths for the Lap and Fat Quarters for the Queen. It can also be made with more variety using a Layer Cake (2 Layer Cakes for larger size) or even Fat Sixteenths (approximately double or quadruple the number needed according to size you are making). Yardage for blocks and background is indicated on the back of pattern.
Pattern is for use with your own cotton fabrics. The actual item being sold and downloaded is the pdf pattern for making the quilt, not the actual quilt or fabrics. This pattern is a pdf of 6 pages (from the 12 page smaller booklet, done in page spreads). There is no printed pattern that is shipped when purchasing a downloadable PDF. This design is suitable for basic to intermediate quilters.
The quilts in the sample photos are pieced by Susan Strumpf and Robin Pickens quilted by Robin using Keryn Emmerson's Leafarama and Whirlwind from Wildflower Quilting/Karen Farnsworth. The background used in the quilts shown is Dotty Thatched Cream 48715-36.
The PDF is for your own personal printing for your own directions to make the quilts and not for mass printing for resale or for distributing to group classes.
